And cooking done with care is an act of love.&#8221;<\/em> &#8211; Craig Claiborne, Kitchen Primer<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I figured I should start a recipe blog as I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got so many cooking ideas and recipes off the internet. Hopefully by posting some recipes here (my own, adaptations, and other people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s), I can help someone else out in their cooking adventures.<\/p>\n<p>One thing you may have noticed is I don&#8217;t put total cooking times with recipes. My reasoning for this twofold.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, it&#8217;s very hard to estimate such stuff as different cooks work at different speeds. Second, I generally try to not rush cooking. As Maria Benardis of <a title=\"Greekalicious\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greekalicious.com.au\/index.html\" target=\"_self\">Greekalicious<\/a> noted in a <a title=\"cooking class\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greekalicious.com.au\/html\/classes.htm\" target=\"_self\">cooking class<\/a> of hers I attended (which I highly recommend by the way! I&#8217;ve been to two now), and on her <a title=\"Greekalicious\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greekalicious.com.au\/index.html\" target=\"_self\">website<\/a>, &#8220;One of the most important ingredients at every stage of the preparation of the food is that of the enjoyment of cooking and love&#8221;. This is hard to do if you&#8217;re rushing! I also know from experience that stress can result in sub-standard dishes and a mess of a kitchen (such as my noodle-wad incident of 2010!).<\/p>\n<p>I will note, however, when a recipe was quick for me to make by <a title=\"Quick Recipes\" href=\"\/food\/tag\/quick\/\" target=\"_self\">tagging it as such<\/a> (e.g., took around 45 min or less to finish).<\/p>\n<p>I also like what Maria has to say on her <a title=\"Greekalicious\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greekalicious.com.au\/index.html\" target=\"_self\">site<\/a> to relating to Greek philosophy in regard to cooking; that the sharing of &#8220;food shows love towards others and welcomes anyone who consumes it&#8221;. I certainly enjoy cooking for friends and family as a way of showing my care for them. I find myself having a burning desire to cook for my husband, James, whenever he does something sweet for me, for this very reason!<\/p>\n<p>I also have recently discovered I&#8217;m gluten intolerant, so the majority of the recipes here will now be gluten free :-)<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I would like to acknowledge and publicly thank my beloved late Gran. She taught me a lot about all sorts of things, including cooking. I really miss her&#8230; She passed away on the 22nd of January this year. I have such fond memories of her and frequently think of how she taught me to make a pizza from scratch when I&#8217;m making my own nowadays.<\/p>\n<p>Cheers, and thanks for reading.
